Personal Life

Tisdale was born in Monmouth County, New Jersey on July 2, 1985, to Lisa (née Morris) and Mike Tisdale. She grew up there in Ocean Township. Her elder sister Jennifer Tisdale is also an actress, most notably starring in Bring It On: In It to Win It. Her maternal grandfather is Arnold Morris, the developer of Ginsu Knives; and through her grandfather, she is also related to businessman Ron Popeil. Tisdale is Jewish on her mother's side and considers herself Jewish. She was discovered by Bill Perlman, her current manager, at South Shores Mall, when she was three. After booking her first audition, she went on to star in around one hundred national network commercials. At the age of eight, she got a leading role in the Broadway musical, Les Misérables and later toured internationally with the cast of Annie. She began acting, appearing in stage productions of Gypsy: A Musical Fable and The Sound of Music at the Jewish Community Center of Monmouth County.
Film and Television

Recently named one of Teen People’s 25 Hottest Stars Under 25, Ashley Tisdale is best known for her role as Maddie, a hotel candy counter clerk and baby-sitter of devious twin boys who live in The Tipton Hotel on the Disney Channel series “The Suite Life of Zack & Cody.” Ashley can currently be seen starring opposite Zac Efron in the original movie musical, “High School Musical,” directed and choreographed by Kenny Ortega. The film premiered in January 2006 and was the highest rated telecast in Disney Channel history. Ashley made music history by being the first female artist to ever debut with two songs simultaneously on the Billboard Hot 100 chart (“Bop To The Top” and “What I’ve Been Looking For,” both duets with co-star Lucas Grabeel from the RIAA triple-platinum certified “High School Musical” soundtrack).
Ashley has currently recorded her debut album for Warner Bros. Records, "Headstrong". Her new version of “Kiss The Girl” is featured on the special edition DVD of “The Little Mermaid.”
Ashley’s acting credits include a featured role in the film “Donnie Darko” with Jake Gyllenhaal, Maggie Gyllenhaal and James Duval. She was a series regular on “Nathan’s Choice,” “Mayor of Oyster Bay” and “The Howie Mandel Pilot,” and had recurring roles on “The George Lopez Show,” “Still Standing” and “The Hughleys.” Guest star roles include “Grounded for Life,” “Strong Medicine,” “Boston Public” and “Seventh Heaven,” “Malcolm in the Middle,” “Charmed,” “Hannah Montana,” “Once and Again” and “Saturday Night Live.” Ashley also shot the-now-famous
T-mobile commercial with Catherine Zeta-Jones.. On the animated front, Ashley has a recurring role on Disney Channel’s “Kim Possible” and will voice one of the lead characters in the new Disney Channel animated series “Phineas and Ferb.”
Music Career

Tisdale's first solo album, Headstrong, was released on February 6, 2007 and was distributed by Warner Bros. Records. The album debuted at number five on the Billboard 200 album charts, selling 64,000 copies. Though her first single was "He Said She Said", written by J. R. Rotem and Evan "Kidd" Bogart, it was released later, with "Be Good To Me" being released as her first single. In January 2007, Tisdale was declared the 2nd Hottest Woman of Pop/R&B by Blender Magazine, which stated, "Tisdale has a gift. Not an angelic voice or a dazzling personality, but an even rarer commodity: millions of "pre-sold" tweens eager to buy her debut album!". In March 2007, Tisdale told Blender that she was drug and alcohol-free, and went on to add, "my mom really instilled confidence in me, so I'm not somebody who'd be under peer pressure". Recently, a Brazilian newspaper claimed that Ashley's new album Headstrong sold 23,000 copies in Brazil, while the worldwide sales for Headstrong have been over 709,500. On MTV's First Ladies', Tisdale has said she will be making her second studio album along with appearing on High School Musical 3. On December 15, 2007, Tisdale performed in 'Z-100's Jingle Ball' alongside Timbaland and Good Charlotte. Tisdale also recorded a cover version of 'Last Christmas' (released by British pop duo Wham! in 1984) which she recently performed at the lighting of the 75th Rockefeller Christmas tree and the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.
